Neighborhood

Piedmont is a small and picturesque city located in Alameda County, California, United States, surrounded by the city of Oakland. Its residential population was 11,270 at the 2020 census.[7] The name comes from the region of Piedmont in Italy, and it means 'foothill'. Piedmont was incorporated in 1907, and was developed significantly in the 1920s and 1930s.

With fewer than 4,000 homes within its borders, Piedmont is known for its manicured lawns, tree-lined streets, ample parks & green spaces, coveted K-12 public school education, and many community activities; chief among them are the 4th of July Parade, the Harvest Festival, the tree-lighting ceremony, and movie nights in the park. 

Its closest shopping district is Piedmont Avenue; a lively destination in Oakland. Stores on Piedmont Avenue range from trendy to traditional and include restaurants, eateries, a gourmet grocery, and an indie film house. Fenton's ice creamery was made famous in Pixar's oscar-winning movie, UP!

As an incorporated town, Piedmont supports its own police department, fire department, city government and school district.
